Who we are
Wird is a free Quran recitation app for Android, developed by Embedded Crew. Wird plays a configurable daily Quran portion and displays the currently-recited verse on your device's lock screen. This Privacy Policy describes how the Wird app handles your information.
Information we collect
Wird collects no personal information from you.
We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any identifying information. Wird does not access your contacts, photos, files, location, microphone, camera, calendar, or any other personal data on your device.
Wird contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting, no advertising networks, and no telemetry of any kind. We, the developers of Wird, receive no information about you, your device, or how you use the app.
Information stored on your device
Wird stores the following information locally on your device only. None of it is ever transmitted off your device:
- Your daily portion configuration (size, theme preference, language preference)
- Your current playback position within the Quran
- Your khatmah (completed-recitation) count
- Cached audio files for offline listening
This data exists only on your device. It is not backed up to any cloud service by Wird. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Clearing the app's storage or cache via your device's system settings deletes the cached audio files and resets your local data.
Network connections
Wird makes one type of outbound network connection: requests to the public CDN at everyayah.com to download Quran audio recitations on first play. EveryAyah is an independent third-party service that distributes Quran recitations under a Creative Commons license. Wird does not control EveryAyah, has no business relationship with EveryAyah, and does not see or log any information about your interactions with their servers.
When your device requests an audio file from EveryAyah, the request necessarily includes your device's public IP address, as required by the HTTP and TCP network protocols. EveryAyah may log this in their server logs according to their own privacy practices, which are outside our control. Once an audio file is downloaded, it is cached on your device and replayed locally — subsequent listens of the same verse require no further network connection.
We, the developers of Wird, do not receive any information about which verses you listen to, when, or how often.
Third-party services
Wird uses no third-party SDKs or services other than the EveryAyah CDN described above. There is no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Crashlytics, no Mixpanel, no advertising network, no social media integration, and no payment processor.
Children's privacy
Wird is rated for ages 13 and over and is not specifically directed at children under 13. Because Wird collects no personal information from any user, it complies by default with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR-K provisions for child data — there is simply no child data to protect, regardless of the user's age.
Your rights
Because Wird collects no personal information, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. All Wird data lives on your device and is fully under your control: uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes everything.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
